Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley (map), is located in the ruggedly picturesque and sparsely populated northeast corner of Western Australia, stretching from the Northern Territory border to the northern most tip of Western Australia. The Shire includes the towns of Kununurra and Wyndham, the township of Kalumburu, more than 40 Indigenous communities and a number of other small settlements and station homesteads.

The Shire covers 121,000 square kilometres and is one of the four local governments that make up the Kimberley region. It is an exciting time to live in the East Kimberley with rapid population growth due to the expansion of the Ord Irrigation area, new mining projects, a thriving tourism industry and the associated infrastructure and employment opportunities. The East Kimberley has the benefits of a rich history mixed with dynamic growth and a vibrant community.
